WHY JAMES
"I've worked in technology and farmed this land for nearly two decades. I know what this district needs — and I know where it needs to go. Hartford needs both, right now."
PLATFORM
Five Priorities for District 61
Education
Recent funding bills don't fix the broken Education Cost Sharing (ECS) formula or the unfair burden District 61 carries. Real reform means structural change — not annual patches that solve nothing long-term.
Farming
Real policy for Connecticut's working farms — removing barriers for the next generation of farmers, keeping land actively farmed, and directing development pressure away from our open landscape toward areas built to handle it.
Safety & Mobility
Safer roads, better infrastructure, and real transportation solutions — not just for today, but for the commuters and businesses this district will depend on tomorrow
Bradley International Airport is a regional economic engine. District 61 has a seat at that table — and should be using it to attract investment, create jobs, and grow our economic base.
Fueling Economic Opportunity
Property Taxes
Homeowners and farmers in District 61 carry an unfair burden compared to what Hartford returns. That requires long term structural reform – not the same conversation year after year.
ABOUT
James Mol
James Mol is the Democratic candidate for Connecticut House District 61 in the 2026 election, representing Suffield, East Granby, and Windsor Locks. A technology consultant, community leader, and farmer, he has called Connecticut home for 22 years, nearly two decades of them in Suffield. He built his career leading artificial intelligence and data strategy for hospitality companies, and now consults while raising Brabant draft horses on his family's preserved farm in West Suffield.
For six years he has served on the Suffield Board of Education, including its Finance and Facilities Subcommittee. He understands how school budgets work, how decisions get made, and what gets left out when the wrong people are in the room.
James is running because District 61 needs more than experience. It needs someone who understands where technology, AI, and a changing economy are taking us, and can translate that into real policy for schools, farms, and families.
Mol Farm - Preserved Farmland
One of the most visible preserved farms in Suffield, right on a major state road — a daily reminder of what this district is worth protecting.
